If there was a crack in the stock, naturally it would lower the price, it can be fixed. This gun is 63 years old with the original finish, not many around that old that aren't re-finished. Your gun is I believe a transitional gun from 1945-1946 when Hunter Arms was going bankcrupt and Marlin took them over in 1945. Side plates have a lot of case color left to them. It has the Single sighting plane (top rib) which was an option in 1939 ($5.00) but then standard for 1940.
